MacOS 10.15 Catalina is out, and if you own a Mac that can run Mojave, you can run Catalina. But should you rush out to upgrade today?
If you have any old programs that you need to run stop right here. DO NOT UPGRADE. Sure there will be updates over the next few days however they will still not support your old 32 bit programs. So if you are one of the many Apple consumers that have legacy programs on your Mac, do not update. Your 32 bit programs will not work. If you rely a vital 32 bit app that is now incompatible you will endure huge headaches and ruin your day.
Give software developers some time to iron out any last-minute bugs that come to light. If it is a legacy 32 bit program expect to buy the new version.
So for the average Mac user, most of us have been here for a while, check the apps that you have, make sure they are 64 bit. If not find out if a version is available. Whilst most users will be unaffected by Apple’s transition away from iTunes, for some this change could represent a huge workflow change.
Just remember better be safe than sorry, make a full backup before any upgrade on Time Machine.
